New Zealand
Kia Ora to more than 15,000km of exquisite coastline across the North and South island – and landscapes varying from rainforest to snow, to white-sand beaches, geothermal sites and glaciers; As yacht owners dare to go further afield New Zealand’s charter yachts choices are growing attracted by modern charter legislation, the presence of great refit yards and many top grade professional. The spectacular, unpolluted, underdeveloped cruising grounds are totally unspoilt. Combine this with the easy-going hospitality of the Kiwi’s and voila… a beautiful adventure is waiting for you.
The Maori culture is a core part of New Zealand’s national identity. With its Polynesian history mixed with European settlers, New Zealand has a rhythm all on its own with a relaxed sunny atmosphere that is fiercely competitive, especially on the sports field.
New Zealand can provide something for everyone from winetasting in a quiet bay to bungy jumping, fishing, diving, snorkeling, skiing all surrounded by stunning scenery.
Only a one hour steam from Auckland, the Hauraki Gulf offers great cruising: Waiheke Island, New Zealand’s version of Martha’s Vineyard, to Great Barrier Island with it’s amazing diving. Enduringly popular is the Bay of Islands, the gateway to the North of the North Island and it’s 100+ islands offering shelter, sandy beaches and activities.
Head to the South Island and it’s a different world with the same laid back kiwi culture. The Marlborough Sounds offer spectacular deep, dramatic and almost Jurassic fjords and access to New Zealand’s leading white wine vineyards.
To truly enjoy the total experience you need at least 3 weeks. If you have less time, stick to Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and the sunny Bay of Islands in the North.
